Kancha Ilaiah’s book ‘why I am not a Hindu’, should be made a textbook in all the colleges and universities all over the world. This is the most highly scholarly book on religion. Even Bertrand Russel’s book ‘Why I am not a christian’ is nothing in comparison because Bertrand russell was very superficial. Christianity is a great religion and Bertrand russel gives superficial reasons about why he is not a christian. Bertrand Rusel was also influenced by zionists. There is enough proof on that and we at Dalit Nation are doing research and will be publishing a paper soon.
When the editor first read Kancha Iliah, immediately we realised that this book is next only to Dr. Ambedkar’s ‘Annhilation of caste’. But it is also different because Kancha talks of his experiences as a Kuruma the shepherd caste. How the shepherds had so much knowledge of different ways to breed and look after sheep. The Brahmins know nothing of all this. Yet they rule the people. Since the editor is also from the weaver caste we can understand and sympathise with Kancha iliaiah.
How brahmins have taken away our gods is still a shame. When pocchamma’s festivals are celebrated how we dalits sacrifice and offer what we love to eat. We sacrifice buffalos and sprinkle the blood of the buffalos and cook them and eat them. We also drink toddy and sing and dance all night. Why should we dalits learn the classical music popularised by these brahmins. All their arts like bharatanatyan and classical music has only survived because of the Devadasis. The uncultured brahmins dont even know how to sing and dance properly and they call us uncultured. They offer bananas and coconuts to their gods but our gods need meat. Because our gods eat what we dalit bahujans eat. The barbaric brahmins wants to prevent us from sacrificing animals. They want to kill our culture. The brahmins dont know that they were also meat eaters 2000 years ago. They became vegetarian only to conquer Buddhists. The Buddhists were fooled by newly converted vegetarian Brahmins and thought that they are non violent and slowly Brahmins absorbed Buddhists. The Brahmins can go to any extent even change their diet to enjoy their monopoly. The brahmins have also influenced the christian missionaries to preach against animal sacrifice. Shame on them.
In Kancha’s childhood he never saw any Brahmin children in the fields. There were only his own caste people. Where were these brahmin children at that time. They were probably hiding in their houses eating food all the time and chanting the stupid mantras. The brahmins have no contact with nature. They dont touch mud and dont know anything about plants and animals. Still they call themselves intelligent. Kancha has clearly exposed the Brahmins with regards to sex education. The Brahmins never talk of sex in their homes. They act as if sex does not exist. The brahmin children have no clue about sex unlike we dalits. As dalits we are taught sex education in our houses but for Brahmin children they dont even know about birds and bees.
Brahmins also treat their own children as untouchable. Brahmin mothers dont touch their own children and brahmin mothers also dont love their children. What a horrible people these brahmins are. Kancha clearly exposes all these things. The world should know these things. How the brahmin treats women and widows are so inhuman. They just light a fire and burn the widows after the death of the husband. Why are they not booked for murder when they do this.
Kancha completely exposes the gods of the brahmins, even the godess of learning saraswathi is an illiterate. How come brahmins dont allow woment to study. Their gods are all violent rama who killed dalits like shambuka and the ravana. Krishna who was a master of deceit. Krishna also studied chanakya’s arthashastra and vatsyayana’s Kamasutra. He mastered them.
The brahmin gods are all symbols to destroy the oppressed. The brahmans say ‘aham brahmasmi’ which means everything belongs to me. Why should we give everything to brahmins our women, the products from the toil. The bagvad gita and upanishads are books which will put mein kampf to shame. Bagvad Gita asks the upper caste pandavas to kill their cousins the lower caste kauravas. Kancha clearly exposes the hypocrisy of the Mahabharatha.
These books like Bhagavad Gita should be banned. Even people who discovered atom bomb were influenced by bhagwad gita. All of them were jews. Brahmins being the philosophical clergy had no problems in accepting or debating other philosophical schools. They toyed in with so many different schools of thoughts and philosophies. Infact if you look at the modern day world the community with majority of vegetarians come from Jains and Brahmins. What is important is to debate and discuss the ethical aspects of vegetrainism and not concoct silly and baseless theories.Well Kancha even after Buddhism’s so called defeat by Brahmins why are they still vegetarians. Rama killed ravana who was a dalit. Ravana was a brahmin expert in vedas wheras rama the hero of ramayana was a Kshatriya and not a brahmin. Please check your facts. Also the authors of Ramayana and Mahabharatha were non-brahmins. Valmiki was a tribal dacoit and Veda Vyasa was a sudra. So where is all this brahmin conspiracy stuff you are talking about.

I am Jasvankumar V. Rathod. I am M.A., B.Ed., M.Phil in the subject of
English. I am pursuing my Ph.D. in English Literature from
Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan. Moreover, I have
also cleared National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the
University Grants Commission (UGC, New Delhi) in 2012. I have 7 years
of Experience in teaching English at U.G. as well P.G. level. My
research work includes 6 papers published in an International Journal.
Moreover, I have also actively contributed as NSS Officer and
Coordinator of U.G.C. Grievance Cell at Government Arts and Commerce
College, Bhilad.
Previously, I had worked as a Visiting Professor in English at
Silvassa College, (Presently A.P.J Abdul Kalam College, Dokmaradi,
Silvassa) from 26-12-2011 to 26-04-2012 and from 05-08-2012
to29-09-2012. I taught the classes of B.Com and B.A. It makes me happy
to submit here that most of my students had got First Class in the
University Examination.
On 3rd October, 2012, an Interview for the permanent post of Assistant
Professor in English at Silvassa College was organized at Secretariat,
Silvassa. Only three candidates appeared in the interview and I was
one of them. I was interviewed by the Selection Committee. I was not
selected for the post but the Candidate selected for the
above-mentioned post was not eligible. As per the UGC Rules and
Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and
Other Staff in University and Colleges, 2010 (Annexure-I), N.E.T is
mandatory to get appointed as Assistant Professor in any College of
the Country. The Candidate selected for the post of Assistant
Professor in English has neither cleared N.E.T. nor obtained Ph.D.
Regarding this wrong appointment, I had communicated to the then
Principal, Dr. D. C. Agrawal many times but he had not responded any
of my letters of request. Therefore it became compelling for me to
seek justice. I filed a petition regarding this wrong appointment in
the high court of Mumbai which is yet not admitted due to some unknown
reasons.
Again, an advertisement for the post of Assistant Professors in
English was published by Silvassa College on 13-04-2013. I applied for
the post and was interviewed by the Selection Committee on 2nd July,
2013. I was selected for the above-mentioned post. But, the then
Principal Dr. D.C. Agrawal had misguided the Governing Body of
Silvassa College by showing some manipulated documents. He also stated
that the selected candidate had filed a petition in the high court. A
Copy of the Agenda of the Fourth Governing Body (Dated. 30th July,
2013) is enclosed herewith for your kind perusal. Tragically, the
Governing Body resolved to cancel the appointment and re-advertise the
post. It resolved that “For the other post of English (UR), six
candidates applied, however only five candidates appeared for the
interview. Thus for the post of Assistant Professor in English, a wide
choice was not available due to inadequate number of applicants. The
English is a very popular subject, so if the posts are re-advertised
there is a possibility of receiving sufficient number of applications
for a good choice. Under such situations, it was proposed that the two
posts of English may be re-advertised. The issue was deliberated at a
length and after consideration it was unanimously approved that the
two posts of English shall be re-advertised.” A Copy of the Minutes of
the Fourth Governing Body (Dated. 30th July, 2013) is enclosed
herewith for your kind perusal.
Examining the above-mentioned Agenda and the Minutes of the Governing
Body, there are differences between the proposed matter and the
resolution regarding my selection. It is clear that due to
insufficient number of candidates, the Governing Body decided to
advertise the posts. After examining the Attendance Sheets of earlier
Interviews, it is very clear that there were only three candidates in
the Interview for the Assistant Professor conducted on 13th July,
2011at Secretariat, Silavssa. On 12th July, 2012, there were only two
candidates appeared in the Interview for the Assistant Professor
conducted at Secretariat, Silavssa and as per the Minutes of the
Interview for the Assistant Professor conducted on 3rd October, 2012,
there were only two candidates. It is also shocking that in an
Interview for the Post of Assistant Professor in Computer
Applications, there was only one candidate. Therefore, it becomes very
clear that in selected interviews, the policy of maintaining the
Quorum was not followed. When I was selected for the post of Assistant
Professor in English, there were five candidates appeared in the
Interview on 2nd July, 2013.
Moreover, the Minutes of the Interview for the Post of Assistant
Professor in English held on 2nd July, 2013 are deliberately lost. It
becomes clear in the responses of the present as well as the former
principals of Silvassa College, Naroli.
Examining the above-mentioned documents, it becomes clear that

Many of V.T. Rajshekar’s and Ialiah’s brochures (Dalit Sahitya Akademy, Bangalore) are transcripts of speeches given at Christian conferences. Thus, Ilaiah was invited to contribute to the American University Press book Democracy in India, a Hollow Shell edited by Prof. Arthur Bonner.
Kancha Ilaiah offers a description of the differences in life style between upper castes and Shudras, with the declared intention of getting the reader indignated at the injustice and absurdity of the typically Hindu castle system. Yet, his testimony unwittingly shows just how similar Hindu caste inequality is to the social inequality in other societies, e.g. Ilaiah’s repeated observation that women are more controlled in upper castes and more assertive and free in lower castes is or was just as true for Confucian China or the feudal and bourgeois societies of Europe.
Ialiah has also expressed support for bin-Laden and terrorist organizations like al-Qaeda and has routinely expressed further anti-Zionist and anti-Semitic views.
Please read this book with a grain of salt. Ialiah is a man who distorts the ground realities of life in India to advance the Christian missionary agenda, which is the complete and iconoclastic cultural genocide of India. Brahmins have a track record of discipline not just at 20% or 40% of their population but rather a 99.9999% of their community. Its discipline that which makes a community or people successful. I am a dalit and I belong to a Scheduled Caste community of Karnataka. I am in the state administrative service. I am involved in some dalit organizations and we work for the upliftment for dalits and their rights. Our families are staunch Hindus since many many generations. Our family deity is Marikamba of Banvasi and have ties with the temple trust since generations. There are many in our families who are in government service and we are being forced from so called dalit leaders to fight against Hinduism and become Christians, Muslims or Budhists. I have been personally asked by some so called dalit christians to come and join christianity and abuse hinduism and I have been promised many financial benefits. I know of many of my friends and relatives who are dalits who have also been asked these things. I was educated in the Ramakrishna mission and I hold Swami Vivekanada and Mahatma Gandhi as some of my Idols.It was Mahatma Gandhi who stopped the animal sacrifice in Marikamba temple in Banavasi. I have great regards for Babasaheb Ambedkar and agree with him in all counts except on the fact of ridiculing hinduism. Hinduism like other religions had / has many evils. But it is a great religion and gives utmost importance to spirituality and humanism. All the abuse heaped by these so called dalits cannot change this relaity of Hinduism. What is important is to understand that we are all one human race and not create more divisions.
I have interacted with many many brahmins and other so called upper caste and have never been discriminated or anything. Most of them don’t even know what manusmrithi is. Infact it is the others who know more about manusmrithi than brahmins. I have always been on an equal footing with everyone. I don’t believe in caste and all that non sense. I have also not been subjected to any discrimination. But I know that dalits have been discriminated for generations but just abusing Hinduism due to some vested intrest is very dangerous for our country. ALso dalits have been discriminated not just by Hindus but by christians and muslims also. One more thing most Dalits know is that it is these so called savoirs of Dalits who belong to OBC and BC castes who have exploited dalits more than Brahmins. I know many Brahmins among my teachers and they have been the most ideal people with highest human values that I have ever seen in my life. There are many anti-national forces who are now mascarading as saviors of dalits. Their only agenda is to denigrate Hinduism, disintegrate india and convert people to islam and christianity. In Karnataka we have the Dalit Sangarshana Samithi, Joseph D Souza of Indian Christian council who hide themselves as Dalit freedom network and dalit voice of V.T.Rajashekar. It should also be understood that most of these people like V.T. Rajashekar, Joseph D SOuza and Kancha Iliaih are not dalits. V.T.Rajashekar is a shetty, Joseph D Souza is a goan christian and D souza’s are all converted to christianity from brahmins during portugese rule. Kancha Iliaih is from the Kuruma community and not a dalit. So all these people talking about are not from any oppressed caste. I know from some close associates that they have ties with terrorist organizations and dalit empowerment id just a mask they use. Some of the people in my family converted to buddhism as shown by babasaheb but the irony is they are only buddhists politically and they are hindus by all standards. and another funny thing is every year in october and december they again reconvert to buddhism in political functions. We need to be wary of all these forces who are trying to garner our support and use us to further some anti national agendas.

Some folks here have suggested Shramanas were jains. In the ancient times Brahmins, Jains and Buddhists were a highly integrated community. There was lot of intermingling between these communities. The modern day descendents of Shramanas are Brahmins. ‘Sharma’ is a common surname among Brahmins. Vegetarianism evolved from the Shramans who were all ascetics. Not all Brahmins, Jains and Buddhists were Shramanas. However practices like vegetarianism was adopted by the jains and all the other brahmins much later as the economy became more agrarian. Buddhists, including the Buddha were not vegetarian.
Another note, South India was ruled by Jains and Buddhists. There used to be a easy walk in and walk out from the Brahmin, Buddhist and Jain traditions in South India. The adi Kavi (the first poet) of Kannada, Pampa was born a Brahmin but was a Jain in his belief system. He also wrote the Ramayana in Kannada in 2 century CE. In Karnataka there is a history of Jains and Brahmins living together in places like Moodabidri, Karkala and Sravanabelogola. There has been no historical animosity other than theological debates and fights. The same with the Buddhists. We can evidence this in the Badami and Ihole caves where the Saivaites, Vaishnavaites, Buddhists and Jains lived together in separate caves and compartments following their respective faiths. Bodhidharam, was a pallava brahmin prince from tamil nadu and he was instumental in trasmitting the meditation vareity of Buddhism to China and which later morphed as zen in japan.
The Mimasaka and Buddhist Schools were predominanted by people from Brahmin Community. Mandana Mishra was one such famous Mimasaka scholar and leader. He was ‘defeated’ and ‘won over’ in a debate with Shankaracharya and he converted to the advaitha school of vedanta. He changed his name to Sureshwaracharya and headed the Puri Peetha in Orrissa. Mishra is a very common surname among Brahmins in Orissa and North India. There were Buddists whose surname was Mishra in Orissa.
If you just go by the surnames it is quite clear that Brahmins are the descendents of the famous Buddhist clans. Ambedkar’s and Dravidians claim that Dalits were Buddhists and Jain is a historically wrong claim. The dalits have always been pantheistic animists worshipping zoomorphic deities. Infact there is absolutely no proof of any of the thouands of Dalit caste having any links with Buddhism. However it is clear that some modern day Brahmins are the descendents of the Buddhists. It is ridculous for the dalits to bemoan the demise of Buddhism in India as they were no way involved in the Buddhist movement. It was the Brahmin and Kshatriyas who formed the majority of the Buddhist clergy (around 98%). Even Ambedkar has acknowledged in his last speech after his conversion that the Buddha’s Sangha had 75% Brahmins. The dalit writers have gone off tangent by pitching Brahmins against Jains/Buddhists and claiming that Dalits are the Descendents of the Buddhists and Jains. If at all any community can claim closeness to the Buddhist tradition in India it is the Brahmins through historical ancestry. Even if they had their theological fights. It is only people who are close who can debate and fight with ideas especially in the ancient indian landscape where there was no communication facilities and the exchange of ideas happened only in close knit societies which even had family and genetic ties between them.

However sramanas came from all communities. There were jain, buddhists and vedics in the shramana tradition. Chanakya the political philosopher was also from the shramana lineage and he was austere in his lifestyle. Buddha studied in the shramana lineage but went out of this as he adopted a middle path as opposed to the extreme austerity of the shramanas. The Jains brought the shramana teachings to the common folks in the ancient cities.

I have 2 relatives who are Sharmas (1 from Punjab, another from UP) and used to wonder how come they are brahmins without any history of anyone in their families ever having being priests or being associated with priestly duties of any sort — now i understand – perhaps their ancestors were shramans in the past.
From what i understand (or what hv bn thinking all along) is that a shraman is an ascetic and like a teacher and is different from a temple priest or yagna priest or those associated with such duties. Would that be right?

I felt happy to see Naveen Rudriah’s post. I feel it was objective and analytical. Yes sir, I am a telugu brahmin, but I am writing dispassionately. Naveen proudly mentions that he worships and believes hindu customs. It is my belief that born hindus should remain hindu and fight injustices being meted out to them by remaining in the fold. Other religions entice dalits because they want to explot dalit’s predicaments and enhance their presence in this country. But dalits should realize that their birth religion is their true identity. It is their shield. It gives them legitamacy to fight and get their rightful share in opportunities and resources.
I have seen a strange article here abiut Anbedkar’s wife. People propounded wierd theories as to why he married a brahmin! Isn’t it stupid? They just liked each other and got married…isn’t it that simple? People are becoming more paraniod. I don’t know why. The present day conditions favor any body who has some intelligence and who can work hard. These so-called leaders and social reformers are only trying to perpetuate insecurities in dalits to benefit themselves. Naveen rudriahs are examples of enlightened realism and liberated pragmatism.

This is vethi from Tamil Nadu. I read some books on Kannada Dalit writings like, Aravinda Malahati’s ‘Government Brahmin’. As a modern world Dalit I did not meet any cast atrocities in my child hood. But I (we) can’t dare to tell that there is no such atrocities to others.
If whereever he goes, nothing change a Dalit from his identity. Hindu society had cast descrimination with itself, but awareness bewtween Dalits has reducing the ratio of such descrimination. We could not think about Dalits Literacy, and all other basic rights, if Ambedkar not written such laws. We people still experiencing the difficulties to get self liberation in this society, that’s why most Dalit activists are protesting against Hinduism. If a Dalit activist is working faithfully to his principle, there is no place for any religions.
Some guys were suggested to refer books like ‘Y I’m Not a Christian, Muslim..etc., But I suggesting a Book, Bagath Singh’s “Why I am an Athiest”. Though he was not a Dalit, not funded from any missioneries, moreover he was one of our most wanted Hero (Patriot). He made more questions on existence of God. He wanted to make a socialist people government by all means.
Please try to tolerate the alternative thoughts.

I think there is no doubt in saying that Dalit section of our society have been given a raw deal throughout ages.But to emancipate them do we need to take support of lies like these:Brahmin Rama killed Dalit Ravana(Ravana was a Brahmin while Rama was a Kashtriya),Bhagvad Gita asks the upper caste pandavas to kill their cousins the lower caste kauravas(cousing belonging to different castes,hmmm?),Krishna was a deceit who studied Kamasutra and Arthshastra(first thing is that he was a Yadava, secondly he came well before Chanakya so there is no way he could study Arthshastra,thirdly you complain of Krishna studying Kamasutra and then you also complain that Brahmin boys are given no sex education..you seem to be a confused lot,please clear up your mind),you also point finger to Gita,Ramayan,Mahabharahta but forget that these were creations of non-Brahmins(Ved Vyasa was son of a fisherwoman,Valmiki was a dacoit while Krishna was a Yadava).

1. Rama’s banishment of Sita is an act of sacrifice. Sacrifice by both Rama and Sita.
2. Rama and Sita are not ordinary men to commit suicide. They transformed themselves back again to their original form of Maha Vishnu and Maha Lakshmi.
3. Hindus worship Rama with Sita because Rama is not alone. As your good self wrote, Rama is incomplete without Sita, Laxman and Hanuman. He banished her as his duty as sovereign King.

Discrimination for dummies: V. 2008

Increasingly, job quotas are cited as ‘discrimination’ — in reverse. But the word discrimination in terms of caste means something very different that the media mostly do not, or choose not to, understand. A signal achievement of the Indian elite in recent years has been to take caste, give it a fresh coat of paint, and repackage it as a struggle for equality. The agitations in the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences and other such institutions were fine examples of this. Casteism is no longer in defensive denial the way it once was. (“Oh, caste? That was 50 years ago, now it barely exists.”) Today, it asserts that caste is killing the nation — but its victims are the upper castes. And the villains are the lower orders who crowd them out of the seats and jobs long held by those with merit in their genes. This allows for a happy situation. You can practise casteism of a visceral kind — and feel noble about it. You are, after all, standing up for equal rights, calling for a caste-free society. Truth and justice are on your side. More importantly, so are the media. Remember how the AIIMS agitation was covered? The idea of “reverse discrimination” (read: the upper castes are suffering) is catching on.
In a curious report on India, The Wall Street Journal, for instance, buys into this big time. It profiles one such upper caste victim of”reverse discrimination” with sympathy. (“Reversal of Fortunes Isolates India’s Brahmins,” Dec. 29, 2007.) “In today’s India,” it says, “high caste privileges are dwindling.” The father of the story’s protagonist is “more liberal” than his grandfather. After all, “he doesn’t expect lower-caste neighbours to take off their sandals in his presence.” Gee, that’s nice. They can keep their Guccis on. A lot of this hinges, of course, on what we like to perceive as privilege and what we choose to see as discrimination. Like many others, the WSJ report reduces both to just one thing: quotas in education and jobs. No other form of it exists in this view. But it does in the real world. Dalit students are routinely humiliated and harassed at school. Many drop out because of this. They are seated separately in the classroom and at mid-day meals in countless schools across the country. This does not happen to those of “dwindling privileges.” Students from the upper castes do not get slapped by the teacher for drinking water from the common pitcher. Nor is there much chance of acid being thrown on their faces in the village if they do well in studies. Nor are they segregated in hostels and in the dining rooms of the colleges they go to.
Discrimination dogs Dalit students at every turn, every level. As it does Dalits at workplace. Yet, as Subodh Varma observes (The Times of India, December 12, 2006), their achievements in the face of such odds are impressive. Between 1961 and 2001, when literacy in the population as a whole doubled, it quadrupled among Dalits. Sure, that must be seen in the context of their starting from a very low base. But it happened in the face of everyday adversity for millions. Yet, the impact of this feat in terms of their prosperity is very limited. The WSJ story says “close to half of Brahmin households earn less than $100 (or Rs. 4,000) a month.” Fair enough. (The table the story runs itself shows that with Dalits that is over 90 per cent of households.) But the journalist seems unaware, for example, of the report of the National Commission for Enterprises in the Unorganised Sector. Which says that 836 million Indians live on less than Rs.20, or 50 cents, a day. That is, about $15 a month. As many as 88 per cent of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (and many from the Other Backward Classes and Muslims) fall into that group. Of course, there are poor Brahmins and other upper caste people who suffer real poverty. But twisting that to argue “reverse discrimination,” as this WSJ story does, won’t wash. More so when the story admits that, on average, “[Brahmins] are better educated and better paid than the rest of Indian people.”
Oddly enough, just two days before this piece, the WSJ ran a very good summary of the Khairlanji atrocity a year after it occurred. That story, from a different reporter, rightly suggests that the economic betterment and success of the Bhotmange family had stoked the jealousy of dominant caste neighbours in that Vidharbha village. But it ascribes that success to India’s “prolonged economic boom which has improved the lot of millions of the nation’s poorest, including Dalits.” Which raises the question: were other, dominant caste groups not gaining from the “boom?” How come? Were Dalits the only “gainers?” As Varma points out, 36 per cent of rural and 38 per cent of urban Dalits are below the poverty line. That’s against 23 per cent of rural and 27 per cent of urban India as a whole. (Official poverty stats are a fraud, but that’s another story.)
More than a quarter of Dalits, mostly landless, get work for less than six months a year. If half their households earned even $50 a month, that would be a revolution. Let us face it, though. Most of the Indian media share the WSJ’s “reverse discrimination” views. Take the recent Brahmin super-convention in Pune. Within this explicitly caste-based meeting were further surname-based conclaves that seated people by clan or sub-group. You don’t get more caste-focussed than that. None of this, though, was seen as odd by the media. Almost at the same time, there was another high-profile meeting on within the Marathas. That is, the dominant community of Maharashtra. The meeting flatly demanded caste-based quotas for themselves. Again, not seen as unusual. But Dalit meetings are always measured in caste, even racist, terms. This, although Dalits are not a caste but include people from hundreds of social groups that have suffered untouchability.
The annual gathering in memory of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on December 6 in Mumbai has been written of with fear. The damage and risks the city has to stoically bear when the noisy mass gathers. The disruption of traffic. The threat to law and order. How a possible exodus looms of the gentle elite of Shivaji Park. (In fear of the hordes about to disturb their polite terrain.) And of course, the sanitation problem (never left unstated for it serves to reinforce the worst of caste prejudice and allows “us” to view “them” as unclean). But back to the real world. How many upper caste men have had their eyes gouged out for marrying outside their caste? Ask young Chandrakant in Sategaon village of Nanded in Maharashtra why he thinks it happened to him last week. How many higher caste bastis have been torched and razed in land or other disputes? How many upper caste folk lose a limb or even their lives for daring to enter a temple? How many Brahmins or Thakurs get beaten up, even burnt alive, for drawing water from the village well? How many from those whose “privileges are dwindling” have to walk four kilometres to fetch water? How many upper caste groups are forced to live on the outskirts of the village, locked into an eternal form of indigenous apartheid? Now that’s discrimination. But it is a kind that the WSJ reporter does not see, can never fathom.
In 2006, National Crime Records Bureau data tell us, atrocities against Dalits increased across a range of offences. Cases under the Protection of Civil Rights Act shot up by almost 40 per cent. Dalits were also hit by more murders, rapes and kidnapping than in 2005. Arson, robbery and dacoity directed against them — those went up too. It’s good that the molestation or rape of foreign tourists (particularly in Rajasthan) is causing concern and sparking action. Not so good that Dalit and tribal women suffer the same and much worse on a colossal scale without getting a fraction of the importance the tourists do. The same Rajasthan saw an infamous rape case tossed out because in the judge’s view, an upper caste man was most unlikely to have raped a lower caste woman. In the Kumher massacre which claimed 17 Dalit lives in that State, charges could not be framed for seven years.
In a case involving a foreign tourist, a court handed down a guilty verdict in 14 days. For Dalits, 14 years would be lucky. Take contemporary Maharashtra, home to India’s richest. The attention given to the Mumbai molestation case — where 14 arrested men remained in jail for five days after being granted bail — stands out in sharp contrast to what has happened in Latur or Nanded. In the Latur rape case, the victim was a poor Muslim, in Nanded the young man who was ghoulishly blinded, a Dalit. The Latur case was close to being covered up but for the determination of the victim’s community. The discrimination that pervades Dalit lives follows them after death too. They are denied the use of village graveyards. Dalits burying their dead in any place the upper castes object to could find the bodies of their loved ones torn out of the ground. Every year, more and more instances of all these and other atrocities enter official records. This never happens to the upper castes of “dwindling privileges.” The theorists of “reverse discrimination” are really upholders of perverse practice.

I understand what you say, and fully support dalits in fighting for their self respect, I support them, but am not in support of your sweeping statements and misplaced arguments.
you have actually pointed out that 50% of brahmins are below poverty line, while 80% of the dalits are below poverty line. Now my arguments is that if caste was the only factor of poverty why would 50% of brahmins be below poverty line.
In fact, i have seen brahmins who were considered to bring ill luck by wealthy people in the village. They have to always bow before the landlords. They eat out of what they get by begging. While Kshatriyas and Vaishyas have been happily left out of your vision why are you selectively comparing brahmins. Let us take the others.

You are casting aspersions on the judiciary which is trying to help people like you. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL PEOPLE FROM ALL CASTES FILE CASES. It is neither a matter of pride nor a priviledge. It is a constitutional mechanism. When you have a problem you want to use the court to support your rights but will cast aspertions when you feel otherwise. This is completely opportunistic.

Actually, The Hindu needs to be reminded of the “Muster Roll Scandal”. In the scandal, which took place before 1970; Mr. M.Karunanidhi was found to be stealing tax-payer’s money by creating fictitious workers in the Muncipality.
FORTY YEARS later, the case is still UNRESOLVED. Some of the accused have actually died. Mr.Karunanidhi is still ALIVE and IS THE CHIEF MINISTER of the state. Instead of giving sermons on “reverse discrimination”, it may be a good idea to bring the current CM, the chief culprit, to justice.

My answer is : – The centre Govt.is / will spend Rs.Seventy Thousands Crores on Govt.servants in service and Rs.Thirty Thousands Crores on retired Govt.servants !!!!! You brahmans do advocacy for creamy layer in reserve jobs to help the poor of this catagory. I think if all the Govt. must be for non creamy layer Indians then the poor of all castes , religions and areas will be alured to join Govt. jobs .The rich may join the private sector .

I agree with you partly. May be all the clerical / non – intelligence oriented works can be given on reservation.
But how can you apply this logic to intelligence oriented works? That has to be merit.
If a SC/ST is intelligent no body will have problems in giving the job to them, as a matter of priority over other people. but the problem is that reservation is actually placing unfit people for the job just based on caste. Imagine chinese fighter pilot who has got good reflexes compared to our figher pilot who got placed on caste basis who is not so reflexive.
Similarly imagine we are spending crores of rs to get technology of rockets/satellites/missiles/neuclear reactors/medicines etc made in US by top engineers/scientists who go from India because they do not get jobs here due to reservation problem.

The word does not exist in any Indian language. Can anyone on this forum show me ONE Indian language which has the word ‘caste’? There is NONE.
The word ‘caste’ is derived from ‘Castos’ – a Portugese word. It was coined at the time of Vasco da Gama.
At THAT time in Europe, there were 2 classes of people – the rulers (kings, barons, dukes etc) and the ruled. Westerners like Vasco da Gama could never understand the social setup in India, which was primarily based on professions. In fact, most Europeans still don’t understand it even today.
Since the word ‘caste’ itself is artificial – its meanings are also artificial. It means different things to different people. Its a bit like wearing glasses – if you see the world thru pink glasses, it will appear pink. If you view the world thru gray glasses, everything appears gray.
The correct way, ofcourse, is to see the world without colored glasses. Only then we can the beauty of color in all the things around us.
And so it is with caste. Lets view the society around us, without tinted glasses.

CHUMBER, Maybe you need to see the world as it exists. You cannot judge some past, distant era using today’s standards. If you do that, other religions will look even worse than what they do today. Examples.
1) As per Bible (Old Testament), Cain killed Abel. And apparently, all of us are Cain’s children. That said, we are descended from a murderer.
2) As per Bible (New Testament), Jesus tells his followers “Eat my flesh..so you can live forever”. Question: do you want to be a cannibal?
As per Koran, the Prophet said “All the Caliphs after me will be of the Quraishi tribe”. So, to be a leader, it was not enough to be a Muslim, it was not enough to be even an Arab Muslim, that person HAD TO BE OF THE QURAISHI tribe! PUNE: Around 2,200 old and precious Marathi hand-written manuscripts, ranging from 14th century to 19th century will now find a place on the world
wide web, thanks to the efforts of the former librarian of the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI), V L Manjul. The manuscripts range from the writings of different saints, biographies, purana granthas and translations from Sanskrit to Marathi by prominent writers like Vaman Pandit and Mukteshwar. It took almost six years for Manjul to locate these manuscripts, a collection which also includes about 100 copies of the Dnyaneshwari,’ the oldest being a copy made in 1630.
“These manuscripts are assets of different institutes like the BORI, Deccan College, Pune Marathi Granthalaya and from various parts of the state such as Pune, Mumbai, Satara, Kolhapur, Karad and so on. The collection includes about 250 manuscripts which are currently in the possession of the Marathi Manuscripts Centre,” says Manjul. The organisation has been founded by Manjul himself to preserve such rare manuscripts which he says are a treasure-trove for those who want to learn about ancient Marathi literature.
“I have been a librarian in BORI for almost 40 years. So, I can appreciate the value of these manuscripts. My aim behind making them available on the internet is to make them accessible to people all over the world,” he says. Manjul has also compiled all these manuscripts in a descriptive catalogue with all their relevant details, including the name of the author.
The manuscripts will be uploaded on a website created by the South Asian Studies Centre of the Deccan College, a centre established by the Chicago University to enable studies of the Marathi language. “If a person in some corner of the US wants to study the writings of some Marathi saints, he should be able to do so without any problems,” Manjul states. The work of uploading the material has already started and should be completed within the next couple of months.
The descriptive catalogue will also be published in four parts soon under the title Union Catalogue of Marathi Manuscripts’. “Pune has about 5,000 Marathi manuscripts with many more spread all over the state. I have already started looking for the remaining, since I want to get all of them uploaded on the internet for everyone to see and read,” he adds.
Manjul says all this was possible because he was ably guided by a few people including R C Dhere, Sadanand More, Eleanor Zelliot and Anne Feldhause. “In fact, these were the people who encouraged me to establish the Marathi Manuscripts Centre,” he says.

NEW DELHI: The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) may wax eloquent about empowering the downtrodden, but in the last five years it has denied the
Scheduled Castes (SCs) a whopping Rs.72,500 crore ($15.16 billion) that should have been earmarked for them under a special scheme.
This has been underlined by voluntary organisation National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights (NCDHR) after a study of India’s budget documents.
Called the special component plan (SCP), the scheme was a strategy evolved way back in April 1975, envisaging that every central ministry must allocate funds from its annual plan for Dalits according to their population.
SCs today form 16.2 percent of India’s 1.1 billion population. Therefore, between 2005 and 2009, the Congress-led government should have set aside Rs.129,000 crore for Dalits. But as much as Rs.72,500 crore was not earmarked, the NCDHR has pointed out.
“The figures of allocation are a mute witness to the history of denial of exclusion. It is not only for the last five years; this trend is observed for the last 28 years since the inception of the special component plan in 1979-80,” states the NCDHR.
It points to the allocations in the interim budget of the UPA government in February.
“Out of 75 ministries and their departments, only 16 have allocated funds under the SCP. Out of these, nine ministries have allocated token amounts below five percent. Labour and employment, science & technology, bio-technology, panchayati raj and textiles are some of the examples,” says the study.
But the NCDHR concedes that human resource development, social justice and empowerment, rural development, women and child development and health ministries did make allocations according to the Dalit population.
The SCP came into being in 1979-80 and only Rs.433 crore had been spent on SCs and Scheduled Tribes (STs) together in the 30 years before that.
According to the Planning Commission guidelines, these funds cannot be diverted for any other purpose.
The ruling Congress and its UPA allies that spoke of the common man in the run up to elections allocated Rs.15,280 crore for SCs in its interim budget in February while it should have set aside Rs.34,413 crore for this fiscal, says NCDHR.
“This is even lower than last year’s allocation,” points out the study.
“While the total increase in the plan outlay is 15.74 percent, it is unacceptable that at this critical time of financial crisis, the amount for the socially and economically vulnerable sections is drastically reduced. The amount denied is 55 percent this year!”
As envisaged by the Planning Commission of India, the major objectives of the SCP are:
* Substantial reduction in poverty;
* Creation of productive assets in favour of SCs to sustain the growth likely to accrue through development efforts;
* Human resource development of the SCs by providing adequate educational and health service; and
* Provision of physical and financial security
against all types of exploitation and oppression.

Chumber, have you ever wondered why Christian Aid spends so much money in India? It is a US-based organization – and there are a lot of poor people in US. Especially Blacks and Hispanics. Does it not seem strange that an
organization should go half-way around the world to make donations, when the same donation could have been made in their own country?
Here are two facts that should wake up most Dalits(and most Indians too).
1. Blacks and Hispanics are one of the poorest sections. As a community, they have their own churches, because the white (i.e. Europeans based) Churches refuse them admission! In any case, they get no support from Christian-Aid and other similar organizations.
2. Historically, the same communities (Blacks and Hispanics) were coverted to Christianity FOR EXACTLY THE SAME REASON that the Dalits are told today. (That is: The Church welcomes you with open arms and will make your life
better). That promise was made centuries ago and it has not been met.

A commonly held perception regarding Vedas is their prejudice against Shudras. Vedas are accused of being Brahminical texts designed to subdue the Shudras. They are considered to be the source of caste-based discrimination that is touted as the primary characteristic of Hinduism/ Sanatan Dharma or Vedic Dharma. The entire pro-Dalit movement also has its foundation on this baseless notion.
Unfortunately, nothing could be far from truth. In this series of articles, we would provide evidence from Vedas and related texts to establish the following:
a. The meaning of four Varnas and Shudra in particular is completely different from what the Macaulay inspired intellectuals would want us to believe.
b. There is absolutely no element of birth-based discrimination or denial of opportunity for any human being in Vedic way of life.
c. If there is one text that provides evidence of highest level of meritocracy and equal-opportunity, it is the Vedas. Even the most contemporary texts on human rights cannot come closer.
Before we begin our journey of solving the caste-puzzle through Vedas, let us start with certain worship mantras from Vedas that mention Shudras:
Yajurved 18.48:
O Lord! Provide enlightenment/ compassion to our Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras. Provide me also with the same enlightenment so that I can see the truth.
Yajurved 20.17:
Whatever crime we have committed against my village, forest or committee; whatever crime we have committed through our organs, whatever crime we have committed against Shudras and Vaishyas, whatever crime we have done in matters of Dharma, kindly forgive us relieve us from the tendency of the same.
Yajurved 26.2:
The way I gave this knowledge of Vedas for benefit of all humans, similarly you all also propagate the same for benefit of Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Shudras, Vaishyas, Women and even most downtrodden. The scholars and the wealthy people should ensure that they not deviate from this message of mine.
Atharvaved 19.32.8:
O Lord! May I be loved by everyone – Brahmin, Kshatriya, Shudra or Vaishya. May I be admired by everyone.
Atharvaved 19.62.1:
May all noble people admire me. May kings and Kshatriyas admire me. May all look at me with admiration. May the Shudras and Vaishyas admire me.
It is clear from these mantras that a Vedic person:
– seeks to be forgiven for crimes against all including Shudras
– seeks to propagate Vedas to all including Shudras
– considers all Varnas – Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra to be equal and respects them equally.
Thus it is clear that as per Vedas, Shudras deserve the same respect as other Varnas and as per Vedic prayer, Shudras are accorded great esteem.
It is also interesting that in all of these mantras, the word Shudra comes before Vaishya. So one cannot counter-argue that Shudras are given last mention or least preference.
These are sufficient evidence to conclude that Shudra, as per Vedas, imply something quite different from a caste or community that has to be discriminated against. We shall explore the meaning of Shudra and associated terms like Daas, Dasyu and Anarya, which are often confused to be synonyms, in subsequent articles.
May the truth prevail!

When late Mr. Verappan was killed , my wife asked me what we could do for his children . I replied that she must concentrate to his school children`s perfect education .We both worked day and night to check them even at 2.00 A.M. at their homes whether they were studying or not . We succeeded in getting 12 students admission in the Jawahar Navodya School where the boarding and lodging free for seven years . The entire block schools could not achieve one fourth of our achievement . I learnt a lesson from by doing work with ‘ do or die spirit ‘ in a small area .We must show the output proportionate to our inputs .
Once ( in the fourth decade of 20th century ) the north Indian dalit organisations’ leaders gathered . Swami Achuta Nand of the Adi-Hindu Mahasabha suggested that there must be an organisation of India level . Baba Mangu Ram Muggowalia of the Adi-Dharam Mandal suggested that we must work at regional levels and also co-cooperate , co-ordinate with each other at national level . Baba Muggowalia showed the results . Dr. Ambedkar also in practical concentrated to the Mahars and the Maharashtra state . He opened the colleges only in his Mahar community`s dominated Maharashtra area .
I suggest to choose some smallest area or some families in your residential area and start work with concentration .

Sounds so much like a proselytizer, right! Almost similar to what dogmatic Christian and Islamic missionaries speak and write. If you replace Vedic Religion with Quran, Bible, Islam or Christianity – this is exactly what Zakir Naiks and Popes of the world have been saying for centuries. So isn’t Agniveer yet another fanatic cult that believes its own religion to be best and trashes other belief systems? Just as a fanatic Christian would use hook or crook to promote Bible, and a fanatic Muslim would recommend even the sword to promote Quran, Agniveer is trying to promote Vedas – yet another claimant of divinity – to strengthen his own cult.
Of course, Agniveer can argue that why only Christian and Muslim fanatics should have exclusive rights to proclaim their texts as best. If they can go to any extent to promote Bible or Quran, why create a fuss when Agniveer tries to promote Vedas in same vein. And if Agniveer is dogmatic in declaring that Vedic religion is the ONLY religion for humanity, then all other cults in the world should also share the same blame.
This is a very strong argument. And in fact this argument has been the pretext on which so many cults and sub-cults exist in world today in all major religions and a new one keeps coming every other day.
The purpose of this article, however, is not to harp on this argument and defend Agniveer stance. Instead, the article would explain what exactly is Vedic religion and why Agniveer is not the first in a long generation of great souls that Mother Earth has produced who lived and died for Vedic religion. The article would explain why swearing by the name of Vedas is not the same as swearing by a Quran or Bible or any other ‘divine’ text for that matter.
And we challenge that after reading this article, you would also be compelled from within to adopt this Vedic religion if you have not done so far. In fact, almost everyone of us is already an adherent of Vedic religion, whether we admit in these many clear words or not. So all that this article would do is to urge you to come proactively in harmony with your true self rather than deny the undeniable.
What is religion?
To start, let us first define what we mean by religion. The common perception of religion is that of a cult or belief-system followed by a reasonably large population that has a specific set of beliefs in matters of life, death, afterlife, god and associated topics. If this be definition of ‘religion’, then ‘Vedic religion’ is anything BUT religion.
However, if we dwell into the etymology of ‘religion’, it is made of two words: ‘re’ meaning ‘again’ and ‘legion’ meaning ‘joining or connecting’. So the process of joining or connecting again to original source is ‘religion’. The word thus has a meaning very close to ‘Yoga’! We shall show that if this be the meaning of religion, why Vedic religion, for sure, is a true religion. I leave it to protagonists of other claimants of status of ‘religion’ to explain their point of view. I shall not comment on that. This article shall restrict only to understanding the Vedic religion and in the very process – convert you into a proactive proponent of Vedic Dharma.
(Note: Linguists may argue that ‘religion’ may have alternative etymologies and interpretations. But that does not concern us. Our allegiance is not to the word but the essence. If you feel like, you can use a different word to represent the same idea. We use the word ‘religion’ because it is most popular and hence easy to understand. To those who understand Indian culture, Dharma would be best word to represent this idea. Dharma means natural property. We shall discuss Dharma sometime later.)
What do you mean by Vedic religion?
Lets start with some
popular wrong answers.
Answer 1: Vedic religion means Hinduism
Answer 2: Vedic religion means considering 4 Vedas as divine just as Muslims consider Quran as divine and Christians consider Bible as divine
Answer 3: Vedic religion means following the 4 Vedas just as Muslims attempt to follow each letter of Quran and Christians follow each letter of Bible
Answer 4: Vedic religion means following Arya Samaj
Answer 5: Vedic religion means doing Sandhya, Havan (fire worship)
And here is the correct answer:
‘To accept truth through a continuous process of rejecting falsehood every moment to best of one’s abilities in the most sincere manner is Vedic religion’
This is beautifully described in Yajurveda 1.5:
“O Supreme Force governing the world! You function as per unchangeable laws which remain the same throughout without slightest of deviations. May I also seek inspiration from You to be unflinchingly principled in my life. Thus I resolve to seek truth constantly by eliminating the false from my life every moment to the best of my abilities, intentions and efforts. May I be successful in this noble decision of mine.”
This sums up the entire Vedic religion. This is the starting point. Everything else is secondary or a corollary. If this core spirit exists, one is a follower of Vedic religion. And if this does not exist, and yet everything else exists, it is still not Vedic religion.
Note that this spirit of falsehood rejection is a core trait for all human beings. We cannot survive without this ability. This inspires us to learn walking, talking, seeking education, making new discoveries and seeking growth and progress in life. Whether we consciously know it or not, whether we openly accept it or not, we all are actually surviving because we follow this Vedic religion or Vedic Dharma. Dharma means a natural property. Unlike a cult, Dharma is not and cannot be imposed. It is something natural and innate. Thus seeking truth is a natural trait of us all and the very fact that we live implies that we all follow the Vedic Dharma.
So what we mean by embracing Vedic Dharma or Vedic religion is to simply stop denying what you are already doing. To simply stop shouting that you are deep asleep when the very fact that you shout implies that you are not asleep. And to instead welcome the energizing morning sun-rays with energy, vigor and enthusiasm that is already there within you!
What is truth and falsehood?
Before we delve into this topic further, let us briefly explain what we mean by truth or falsehood. This is necessary because all cults claim to have exclusive copyrights of ‘truth’. Some are so possessive about it that they would recommend even death for those who intend to reject the ‘truth’ once they are part of the cult. Sounds like a psychopath ghost I saw in one horror movie who would give her victim the choice to either get murdered or be possessed by her!
Vedic truth is more ‘honest’. The word ‘Ved’ itself is derived from a root that means ‘knowledge’. So Vedic truth does not mean that you should believe in whatever I say simply because I claim to hold license of truth. You should not believe in something simply because a book or a prophet or an avatar or a crowd-puller or a celebrity or a TV Channel claims so.
Vedic truth simply means that you should accept anything the way it is actually and then act accordingly.
Vedic truth means that you should accept something only when it is logical, systematic, not self-contradictory and above all in line with your own inner voice. Without carrying these tests of truth, if you accept anything that would be falsehood.
So for example, if I claim that I am a Prophet and only by believing what I blindly write on Agniveer.com can one get rid of miseries and achieve Heaven, you have to scrutinize my claim in various ways. For example:
a. What if someone else also claims something similar? How am I the supposed to decide who is right and who is wrong?
b. Is whatever contained in Agniveer.com perfectly infallible? Is it unaffected by time and geography?
c. What about those who died before Agniveer.com was created? Why they had to miss the bus?
d. Does Agniveer.com contain anything that is wrong?
e. If following Agniveer.com alone is gateway to Heaven, then why was I given a separate brain that could think and analyze?
etc etc.
So you may conclude that while Agniveer.com does contain a lot of valuable and useful information, it is too premature for you to accept that Agniveer is a Prophet. So as a smart follower of Vedic religion, you would accept whatever is good in Agniveer.com and discount all other claims. And if you are smarter, you may altogether reject Agniveer.com and seek knowledge from other sources if you can logically conclude that the other sources are better for you.
But Vedic truth also does not mean that you should be over-skeptic of everything and accept anything ONLY when you can directly verify it. If one starts believing only in things that are directly identified by sense organs, then one cannot even survive for long. One has to use the faculties of logic, extrapolation, interpretations, counter-analysis and judgment that make us humans!
So for example, if you drive your car regularly, it would be grossly inefficient of you to spend 6 hours each time before you start the car to ensure that it does not breakdown. You would rather assess the track record, do regular maintenance and enjoy the ride. Or else, this over skepticism would be called paranoia.
Vedic religion would want us to be like smart managers of successful companies who are neither gullible nor paranoid. Someone who would proactively seek benefits from something that has given benefits or seems to give benefits as per best of one’s analyses, and yet be willing to reject it if the earlier judgment went wrong or get something better.
This is the truth of Vedic religion. To act on contrary would be falsehood.
To summarize, Vedic religion means being knowledge or wisdom driven.
Corollaries of Vedic religion
The above said criteria of Vedic religion was its fundamental axiom. Once this axiom is grasped, rest of the natural corollaries keep getting imbibed as we progress. This is like the fundamental axioms of Mathematics. Once they are in place, rest of the expertise in Arithmetic, Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus get built up automatically.
Theoretically speaking, any person on earth can explore and imbibe all advancements in mathematics all by himself. But the process would be too tedious. So smart people send their children in schools so that they can quickly learn what would take perhaps 1000 births or even more. But unlike an expert in Filmy Quiz, one is not supposed to merely mug up all the mathematics formulas to be an expert in mathematics. Well, one may do so for efficiency, but that is definitely not a destination. A mathematician would be one who understands what led to (a+b)^2 = a^2 + b^2 + 2ab. Further you have full liberty to refute a complex mathematical derivation in a maths book if you feel there was a printing or any other error.
And the way to do so is to follow the Vedic religion – test each step of the derivation for its truth and proceed. Soon you would not only master basic arithmetic but even advanced calculus!
Everything else that is normally perceived popularly about Vedas or Vedic religion is an extension. You are not FORCED to believe in them. They are like the Theory of Relativity and Laws of Motion. You can make best use of them anytime but you are not required to blindly believe in them. You can even reject them or counter them if you honestly consider that to be truth to best of your abilities and intent. You would still be following Vedic Dharma.
There are different levels of these extensions. Some are extremely obvious and intuitive, some need some more analyses and introspection, some may be research level subjects where experts have differences. This is similar to a school curriculum from Class 1 to PhD. Some examples of these extensions are:
– Truth leads to happiness. Falsehood leads to miseries
– Any attempt to seek happiness through falsehood would eventually lead to miseries with added penalties
– One should proactively seek happiness for world. Happiness multiplies by sharing.
– Law of Karma is unchangeable and working every moment. Your thoughts shape your reality.
– Soul is immortal and keeps facing fruits of its actions as per Law of Karma.
– There is a Supreme Force governing the world through unchangeable laws.
– The 4 Vedas contain the codes to subtler truths.
– One should seek holistic development and not lopsided growth. So faculties are multidimensional. Its like a school with hundreds of subjects.

Note that these are all extensions or corollaries. There are no penalties for refusing to believe in any extension simply because you don’t find it convincing given your current state of knowledge, experiences, habits and perceptions. The only penalties come in play when you deliberately attempt to ignore truths that have become intuitive and obvious to you and when you deny the urge for further knowledge, better actions and enhanced contemplation.
Thus the ONLY time you DO NOT follow Vedic Dharma is when you deliberately know you are doing something wrong or false but still do so ignoring your conscience. A corrupt politician, a fraud marketeer, a rapist, a murderer are obvious examples. Each of us when we surrender to lust, greed, selfishness, frustration, anger in actions, words or even in minds is a more honest example though many of these deeds may be hidden from others.
Each day, we follow Vedic religion in varying degree in different aspects of our lives. We do not score a 100 all the time in all aspects. Most of us may be scoring much lesser. But that DOES NOT make us less Vedic. We are Vedic so far we resolve to rise up each time we fall. To fall down is not a sin. We fall down because all our cumulative actions, thoughts and habits of past made us deserve the fall.
But we have a choice this moment – to continue with our fall or resolve to stand up.
You may not be able to do push-ups today. But you have a choice. Either you refuse attempting a push-up and fore-go the chance to have a powerful body tomorrow as well. Or attempt that first knee-down push-up at least and transform into a powerman sooner than you can imagine! The later would make you follower of Vedic religion.

Who is Brahmin?
What is most ridiculous about birth-based caste system is that it is based on unverifiable word of mouth. There is no way to decipher if Brahmins of today are actually children of Brahmins of yesteryears. Regardless of whatsoever Gotra or Rishi name one may utter, there is no way to test the veracity of the claim.

What if I say that Brahmins (birth-based) of today are actually worse than Shudras because they were born of Chandals some 1000 years ago? How can one refute the claim? If you cite that this Brahmin family is of Bharadwaj gotra, I would ask for DNA testing to verify the claim. In absence of it, any claim to superior caste remains merely an empty tall claim.
Who is Kshatriya?
Parshuram is alleged to have wiped off all Kshatriyas several times. So obviously Kshatriyas of today are anything but Kshatriyas by birth!
If one tracks the genealogy of Rajputs, they are supposed to belong to one of the following lineages – Suryavanshi from Sun, Chandravanshi from Moon and Agnikula from fire. Obviously no one actually came from sun or moon on earth! Also Agnikula is a recent origin. Legend says that Agnikula Rajputs sprang from fire when Parashuram wiped off entire Kshatriya or Rajput clan from earth. On many Rajput clans, there is still confusion on whether it is Suryavanshi, Chandravanshi or Agnikula.
Obviously these recent legends – not to be find in any ancient texts – mean that various people who took up the profession of valour/ military became recognized as Rajputs from time to time.
Upper-castes may be Chandals
So if some so-called upper castes can claim some other humans to be lower-caste, even I can assert that these lower-castes are the real Brahmins, Kshatriyas and Vaishyas. And the upper-castes are actually children of Chandals who usurped power centuries ago and deleted historical records. The recorded history mixed with miraculous stories of origin of certain castes and tribes would only support this assertion.
Now if that sounds insulting, even calling any human being as lower-caste is equally offensive, if not more.
Who are Mlechhas among us?
From evident records of history one knows that Greeks, Huns, Sakas, Mongols etc have been assimilating in Indian society in positions of power. Many of them even had rules over certain parts of India for significant periods and today it is impossible to decipher who among us is a Greek, Hun, Mongol etc. This goes well with the Vedic concept of ‘one humanity-one race’ but blows the very foundations of birth-based caste system. Because for them, these Mlecchas are even worse than the 4 castes!
In search of technique for caste determination
Thus forget about caste-system being supported or denied by Vedas. Even that is secondary. What is more important is that there is no way for any of us to determine who among us is actually a high caste and a low caste by genealogy since inception of Vedas. Apart from hollow self-proclaimed assertions, there is nothing more concrete to take anyone’s caste seriously!
So if Vedas were to justify birth-based caste system, they should also have specified a reliable technique to decide someone’s caste. In absence of that technique, the whole concept of birth-based caste system falls flat.
So at best one can say that caste system may have been relevant during inception of Vedas, but has no meaning whatsoever today!
Our stand by the way (based purely on Vedas and logic), is that caste system was never relevant and in fact a distortion of Vedic ideology. And this has been the most expensive distortion for our society that snatched away our entire dignity, strength and future!
What’s in a name?
Please also note that the whole concept of using Name and Surname is hardly a few centuries old. You will not find mention of any ‘Ram Suryavanshi’ or ‘Krishna Yadav’ in ancient literature. Even today, a vast majority adopted a surname based on profession or village or city. South Indians typically use a combination of parental name, village name etc. There are hardly any surnames today which are carried on since inception of Vedas.
The very fact that ancient society discouraged use of surnames implies that people were supposed to be respected for their talents and merits, and not for their birth-stamp. Neither people had to carry caste certificates nor was travel to far off places discouraged as it happened in dark ages of Hinduism. So there was no way for anyone to verify anyone’s caste. The talent of a person was his only caste! Of course distortions did came up over a period of time out of selfish motives. We see that now Bollywood and Politics have also become birth-based. So no wonder similar factors prevailed to strengthen the irrational caste system. But nonetheless, the foundations and verification of castes have always remained utterly unreliable.
Even if someone asserts that Sharma is an old surname for Brahmins, the evidence of people using it compulsorily in Ramayana or Mahabharat era is disputable. So at best we can say that we assume someone to be a Sharma Brahmin because he or she uses such a surname. Or maybe his father and grandfather also used this surname. What if I adopt Sharma surname and my son follows the suit. How would you tell whether I am actually a Chandal or Brahmin? You will have to only rely on my claim. And would I be a fool to admit that actually I am from a generation of Chandals, when being a Brahmin gives me so many exclusive rights and privileges?
The attacks of medieval ages
The thousand years of invasion by fanatic tribals of West and Central Asia witnessed virtually entire cities being raped. Women have been the prime targets throughout this darkest era of Indian history. When looters like Qasim, Ghori, Ghazni, Timur would invade, they would make sure that not even one home is spared whose females were not raped by their soldiers. Delhi itself had been thus ruined several times. The entire north and western India passage from Central Asia has been subject to this tyranny for centuries. May such tragedy may never befall on any society. But our forefathers have witnessed it. Now what would be children of such victims be called except outcastes as per the so-called caste system? But that has thankfully not been the case.
Our seers knew that women are a vulnerable target in adverse situations. So they stipulated in Manu Smriti that a woman, howsomuch fallen, can become noble if the husband is noble. But husband should ensure that he never falls down.
It was this dictum that motivated men to protect the dignity of their womenfolk and god forbid, if something adverse happen, they would still accept the women and start life afresh. Widows would remarry and rape victims would rehabilitate. Had this not been the case, after a few attacks by invaders, we would already have become a society dominated by outcastes!
Of course, in later period, fake glamorization of woman’s dignity started happening that left only death, torture or prostitution as options available for a widow or rape victim. This foolishness only made us even more impotent.
Some birth-based upper-castes may justify that this indeed had been the case that rape victims became outcastes. If that be so, we would only say that this is limit of perversion.
All humans have all 4 castes!
Every human has all 4 qualities – Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Shudra – within him and for simplicity sake we can tag him with his predominant profession. However this remains a gross approximation which loses its relevance even more in current era and social system. 3. There is no way to decide if so-called upper castes are actually upper, and lower-castes actually lower throughout last several thousand generations and more.
All this upper-caste and lower-caste fantasy stories are based on self-assessment and evidence of hardly a few generations. We also see that the present caste system provides an incentive for crooks to somehow attain false certificates of upper caste and fool rest of the population. Also there is no incentive for any fake upper caste to actually admit that he or she belongs to a family of Chandals because that would deprive them of their special rights and status. So in all probability, caste system would imply rule of the crooks and torture of the honest. Thus it is more likely that the honest ones now known as lower-castes are the real upper castes being duped by real low-castes! After all caste system basically means an incentive to cheat!
Traits may be inherited due to environment BUT….
4. At best we can say that certain traits run predominantly in certain families due to the environment that a newborn receives. So many professions run through generations. There is nothing wrong in it. But that does not mean that son of a doctor becomes a doctor merely by taking birth. He has to grow up, give exam and qualify for MBBS to use the Dr salutation. Same is true for every profession or Varna.
5. Further this does not also mean that I cannot be a doctor simply because my father was a laborer. Thankfully this is not the case. Or else the world would have been worse than Hell. After all, almost all legends who shaped the world through knowledge, inventions, discoveries and leadership were mutants who went completely against family traditions.
Caste system ruined us
6. Ever since, India started taking caste system seriously, we degraded from lighthouse of world to one of the largest debtors and beggars of the world. And western world could progress so much despite so many lacunae because they allowed equal rights to dignity to all humans regardless of birth. At height of caste-system, we saw ourselves being raped and butchered for centuries and finally partitioned in our own ancient homeland.
It is only in recent years, after caste system has dwindled significantly, that we witness some respite. Whatever nuisance remains is because of caste-system refusing to go due to its politicization. And politicization thrives because we refuse to proactively trash all those rituals, texts, customs that are based on birth-based caste system.
Negative contribution of casteist mind
7. If I ask you to provide any significant contribution of any casteist mind in last 1000 years, you would have to blame utter lack of it all on crazy conspiracy theories. But the hard fact is that apart from hollow superstitious philosophies and rituals, nothing useful was ever contributed by all the pundits of Varanasi and all holy shrines put together who had access to tremendous wealth and resources to do anything worthwhile.(refer the wealth being discovered from Padmanabhan temple for example. I wonder if they would have utilized this wealth to unite people for fighting away the invaders and establishing meritocracy).
The so-called Mlecchas like Einstein, Newton, Faraday and hundred of other path-breakers of west were more fertile minds than the ‘divinely’ inspired birth, knowledge and special gifts of Shri Hari on these birth-based pundits. The only difference was that in last 300 years, west rejected the crap of Biblical superstitions, increasingly accorded equal rights to all sections of societies. So we can conclude that a non-casteist mind of a Mleccha (considered worse than even Shudras) is thousand times more brilliant than the most ‘divine’ casteist mind.
So those who claim that upper-castes have better talents should provide evidence on what great research have their better talents produced in last 300 years to take their claims seriously?
Giving names of a few scientists like Raman or Chandrashekhar would be foolish. Because they achieved whatever they could only when they adopted studies of the Mlecchas. Their knowledge came from Mlecchas and even their outputs were acknowledged by Mlecchas alone.
Instead, one should showcase examples from centers of casteist learnings – Kashi, Kanchi, Tirupati etc – on what great breakthrough research they could bring from the classified knowledge they had owing to their superior birth? Apart from degrading a great scientific tradition to stories of cheap gimmicks and dakshina, the contribution has been meagre from these great ‘universities’.
And a non-casteist Mleccha warrior is more effective than a far more powerful and brave casteist Kshatriya. That is why despite being touted as having the bravest Rajputs, we were enslaved for centuries by even the slaves of slaves! (Refer the Slave dynasty!) We were marrying our daughters to psychopaths like Akbar despite the heroic valor! We had our Kashi Vishwanath taking recluse in a well despite power of Vedic scholars and brave divinely gifted warriors! And Ghazni raping women in premises of Somnath Temple, thanks to our birth-based caste system that allowed only specific families to be trained in warfare and then remain Hindu only if they do not get touched by Mlecchas!
And far less talented Englishmen could rule not only us but half of the globe simply because they rejected artificial discrimination within their own society!
8. But yes, India has been excellent producers of slaves and Shudras for ages. Barring few rebels, as a society, despite our tall claims of being Brahmin or Kshatriya or Vaishya, we have been licking the boots of our rulers, whosoever came to rule us. We feel pride in serving our Aakaas. Mughal armies were predominantly consisting of Rajput warriors and generals. When Haldi Ghati battle happened, it were Rajputs trying to defeat the brave Pratap! Most of the battles Shivaji fought was against so-called Rajputs and Marathas who were bootlicking the Sultanates!
So those who claim to be upper-castes and defend birth-based caste-system have in practice been not better than Shudras or Slaves as per their deeds! No doubt they had thus all the more reasons to defend their fake upper-castes!
Casteists caused decline of Hinduism
9. It were the great Pundits who closed doors of entry of forced converts back to Hinduism and thus caused the slavery and eventual partition of India. Even today, Hinduism is the only religion that has no mechanism to accept people into it except by birth. Of course, if you pay some bucks at Varanasi these days, they do convert and marry you as per Hindu rituals so that you can take photographs. Even this started after the Arya Samaj Shuddi movement which was met with stiff opposition by fake Brahmins in last century and quarter. In our definition, such people were worse than Shudras.
Many so-called fake Brahmins (fake because they cannot produce DNA records of their Brahminism) would claim that non-Hindus are allowed to be taken back to Hinduism but only as Shudras and not Brahmins or Kshatriyas! What a stupidity based on selfish power politics! A Stephen Knapp who has contributed more to the cause of Hinduism than all the pundits of Kashi put together is still disallowed from entering Jagannath Temple becuase he was not a born Brahmin! He will have to do penance in this birth and take next birth as Brahmin to get this right!
Do we need any external enemies to destroy our destiny?
We have been practicing this stupidity for ages and still do not understand. I can go to a mosque and express my desire to be a Muslim. They will then make all arrangements and make me one quickly. Church will even pay me bucks to become a Christian. But if someone goes to a temple to embrace the culture of their forefathers, first the pujari will look at him as if he has heard a queer joke. Then he would call some pundit. Depending on the location of temple, even his entry may be barred. For example, only Brahmins can enter into interiors of Kashi Vishwanath temple! Then he would be provided a list of penances so that he can become a Shudra. The penances, suggested by likes of revered Karpatriji Maharaj have included eating cow dung for several days! Other sects like ISKCON may make things easier because they are among few sects who felt importance of bringing our lost brothers back.
But then they would be called frauds by other sects. Still they cannot enter a Kanchipuram or Vishwanath or Jagannath or Dwarka temple. They cannot marry a so-called high-caste Hindu. They cannot read and teach Vedas. Even ISKCON would try to play safe and recommend that they only study Geeta and Bhagvat Puran etc.
Except Arya Samaj, no one would dare to make a Pandit teaching Vedas from a Maulana. And they are considered deviant since last 125 years. And now even Arya Samaj has become a kitty party ignoring its prime duty of destroying the caste system! They are busy conducting marriage of eloped couples and earning Dakshinas!
So would some Christian or Muslim be a fool to accept Hinduism at such cost to his or her dignity?
10. I am not blaming any individual but the mindset. The foolish caste system and the mindset that supports it is the greatest cause for all the problems of today. If we became slaves, it was because of this. If we were raped and butchered, it was because of this. If we are facing terrorism, it is because of this. And still we refuse to jettison it proactively. We know it has no basis, no foundation, and no way to verify it, but still we continue to feed the snake that has been killing our kins for centuries.
Casteists caused the Partition of India
11. Many Indians rue the partition and so-called hardline Muslim problem. But few know that Jinnah’s grandfather was a Hindu who was forced to convert due to stupid reasons. Iqbal was from family of Brahmins not even two generations ago! Our stupid caste system would make someone a Mleccha even if we ate with a ‘Mleccha’ and there was never a way back to home.
Later when legends like Swami Dayanand and Shradhanand started Shuddhi movement, and were supported by visionaries like Savarkar, the opportunistic agents of Dharma relented but allowed extremely impractical access to Hinduism as lower castes.
So the entire Muslim or Christian population of subcontinent today is only result of our own crime of caste-system that would make one outcaste at flimsiest of reason. Instead of condemning other religions and their faith, we should ask ourselves: ”What do we have to offer them to bring them back with dignity?”. “What right we have to condemn them when we defend our own irrational fake scriptures that justify caste system and gender discrimination?”
Casteists should look at their own crimes first
Let us be honest with ourselves. Agniveer critically analyzes history of Islam or Quran or Bible, it does so as a scientist and not with hatred. It focuses on concepts and not people. In same vein it also has the guts to say that it throws into dustbin and puts fire to all those rubbish texts which support in any manner disgraceful blots like casteism and gender discrimination. Agniveer does not care about how emotional we may be to such a text or ritual or way of worship. It would still stand for getting rid of lices that suck our blood.
Till we can come up with this honesty, any debate on comparative religions would be a shameless veil on our own heinous crimes.
To Hell with Casteism
12. And for so-called lower castes, there was never a mechanism to become upper-caste again. We said ‘To Hell with merit’ and destiny said ‘To Hell with Hindus’!
So Agniveer now appeals to all to say ‘To Hell with those who say ‘To Hell with merit”.
The goal of this series of writing was not to paint a gloomy hopeless picture and make all of feel guilty. Instead the goal is to be objective and realistic about our history and present and pave a smart way for future.
This is what needs to be done to save India and Hindus Let each of us strive for this at whatever level we can and soon the efforts would multiply into a transformation within a few years.
– Reject caste system totally in thoughts, words and actions
– Stop associating with our forefathers to defend their mistakes. This is also a form of caste system. Take collective responsibility for whatever happened. So-called birth-based Brahmins and Kshatriyas are not the only ones to be blamed. So-called Dalits and Shudras are more to be blamed. Why did they allow these fake Brahmins and Kshatriyas to usurp power and create nuisance for centuries?
Now let bygones be bygones. Stop calling yourself as belonging to any caste except humanity. Stop blaming any Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya or Shudra for whatever happened in past or happens now. Our fight is against a mindset and not persons. Our success will depend on how strongly we refuse to even accept any person by his caste in first place.
And stop the habit of defending every other thing in name of culture and tradition.
– So totally reject every scripture, every ritual, every institution that thrives on birth-based caste system. Lets say a full-stop to it, be it a great temple or festival or a book we have been taught to love since early childhood for generations.
Agniveer did not find Vedas – the first texts – to contain any support for such ridiculous unverifiable conjectures. On contrary Vedas extol for pure meritocracy. Also Vedas are free from adulterations to best of our knowledge. Hence we consider Vedas as our foundation. All other texts are acceptable only to extent they comply with Vedas. And if they advocate casteism, racism or gender bias, they are anything but scriptures. Lets reject them outright, as well as those people, institutions and rituals that defend these.
– This does not mean we reject our forefathers outrightly. Accept their good points, do keep track of deeds of your forefathers if you want to. But only as an inspiration and source of motivation. Refuse to enjoy delusion of your supremacy based on deeds of your forefathers. No one gives you a 1st Rank in University because your grandfather was a topper!
– Refuse to acknowledge any temple that refuses to accept a talented so-called Dalit as a priest. Either grab its control and install meritocracy or let such temples of hatred be boycotted. That may be the greatest pilgrim center, but publicity does not make a villain into a hero.
– Coordinate with local temples controlled by logical minds to openly accept non-Hindus as Hindus with dignity. They may do a short ritual like recitation of Gayatri Mantra and make one a Hindu. No need for any mention of any caste except that he is a human. Only adherence to certain basic lifestyle norms like food, charity, education, non-violence, worship of Supreme, equality of all human beings etc may suffice.
– Events should be organized where these Shuddhis are done at larger scale. And those taking part should be made into Brahmins who then are eligible to conduct religious rituals and be priests of temples.
– In fact special temples be opened with Dalit and erstwhile non-Hindu priests. It has started in many areas but needs to be done more aggressively.
– In so-called Dalit areas, rituals should be conducted that convert them into Brahmins who then conduct rituals of Brahminization of other Dalits. What more, these people should be provided surnames like Sharma, Tiwari, Tripathi, Chaturvedi, Dwivedi, Trivedi etc that they can legally use. This should happen in such wide scale that within few years, it becomes impossible to distinguish between a Brahmin of few years and a Brahmin of few generations. (There is no way to find Brahmins of more than a few generations in absence of credible DNA verification). Swami Dayanand used to distribute sacred thread widely to promote Vedic Dharma. We should also use this symbol to promote our mission.
– One challenge that would come is from reservation based politics which would coax so-called Dalits to continue being called Dalits and earn privileges at cost of dignity. But if wider community support programs and avenues of entrepreneurship be explored, this factor would gradually die natural death. In any case, within a couple of decades, the craze of government secured jobs is poised to die down among enlightened class of society due to much more attractive entrepreneurial and global opportunities, thanks to technological revolution.
Now due to politicization, people have started feeling proud to be called Dalits or Anarya! This is a very foolish reaction to events of history that defeats the very purpose. Dalit means one who is trampled. Its an abuse and society should refuse to use this world for any caste. One who is economically or socially neglected is a Dalit regardless of his or her caste. Any villain is an Anarya. A daughter of a fisherman is a noble Brahmin if she is a scholar. She is a Chaturvedi if she has mastered 4 Vedas. So instead of nurturing clustering of people around terms like Dalit, Arya, Picchdi Jaati, Backward Caste, Scheduled Caste, we should refuse to even recognize such foolish divisions when entire humanity is one caste one race. Factional parties thriving on Bahujan, Dalit, Dravida appeasements are as great enemies of humanity as the fake Brahmins and Kshatriyas of yesteryears – both are nurturing the foolish caste system for their selfish reasons or sheer irrationality.
But now is the golden time to understand the fakeness of hollow caste system and destroy its very foundations. Of course challenges are there but even the opportunity is historic.
Agniveer is determined to make this its number one priority. We appeal to all to join us in this mission as we initiate a movement through ground level implementation of above plans.
We know that this article may arouse some angry reactions from those who support denial of Vedas based on birth or feel men are superior to women and other bogus concepts. But we do not care because we are with truth and know that caste system is against Vedas, against humanity, against logic and against nation.
Those who desire to debate us on this are most welcome! But before that you must showcase your DNA reports so that we can reliably conclude that you are indeed from a genealogy of Brahmins since inception of Vedas and not children of a cunning Chandal who took a Brahmin guise some generations ago. After all by your own admission, only authentic Brahmins have the right to debate on Vedas!

So many of your points are incorrect:-
– Firstly Ravana was a Brahmin and was killed by Rama a Kshatriya
– Secondly Krishna belonged to the Shudra caste which was later plagiarized by Brahmins to win over North Indians.
– You have so much of Anti-Semitism and hatred for the Jews. What have Jews done to you?. Most of the Jews all over the world are the only people fighting for social justice. I suppose you do not know that the great Gautama Buddha was a jew?.
– Pandavas were Aryans and Kauravas were Natives?. Pandavas were a different race of people (Sakyas) and the Kauravas were supporters of Brahmins(probably the invading Indo-Aryans). The Pandavas along with their ally Krishna defeated the party of those who supported the Brahmins.
I suppose you don’t really have a clue on Indian history?.
